MS Flight simulator on Oculus Quest

Yes, you can.

Why MS Flight Simulator?

Learning flying is on my Bucketlist. Right now, between dealing with 2 kids and building a house it’s tough to find time for anything.

What games have you tried?

You can play a variety of games streaming through Game Pass on your phone / Oculus Quest. I have tried:

  • MS Flight Simulator (included in subscription / free)
  • MS Flight Simulator 2024 (included in subscription / free)
  • Indiana Jones and the Golden Circle (included in subscription / free)
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (I had to pay for xbox version)
  • Jedi: Fallen Order (included in subscription / free)

Is this running on Oculus?

No, the games are running in the cloud and streamed to Oculus via Wifi.

You use the official “Game Pass” app in the Quest store.

Is this VR?

No, the games are 2D, but Oculus renders them in a wraparound curved display and it almost feels like VR. The video here does not do the justice – in VR the screen is most of my field of view.

Why bother then?

Imagine having dedicated game room with the biggest display you can possibly need. And all that fits in your backpack.

How do you control?

You need to buy a Bluetooth controller separately – XBOX ones are pretty good.

So what do I do again?

  1. Get Oculus
  2. Buy an XBOX controller
  3. Subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate
  4. Connect controller to your Oculus
  5. Install “Game Pass” app from Oculus Quest Store
  6. Launch MS Flight Simulator
  7. Fly
